PETALING JAYA, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 – The Malaysian Information and
Communications Technology (ICT) industry honoured nine leaders in its industry
at the 5th PIKOM Key Industry Leader Recognition Award.

Recipients of the award, the nation’s most prestigious and illustrious accolade for individuals involved in the ICT industry, are nominated andevaluated by their peers in the industry. The award is presented by Association of the Computer and Multimedia Industry of Malaysia (Persatuan Industri Komputer dan Multimedia Malaysia) or PIKOM.

The selection criteria are based on each recipient’s level of active involvement and corresponding effective contribution in promoting and raising the nation’s ICT industry’s productivity, profile and economy.

According PIKOM chairman Lee Boon Kok, recipients of the 5th PIKOM Key
Industry Leader Recognition Award are renowned captains in the local ICT
industry, which was valued by World Information Technology & Services
Alliance (WITSA) at USD10.13 billion last year and expected a rise to USD11.38
billion this year. “We welcome the recipients of 5th PIKOM Key Industry Leader
Recognition Award, who represent a wide spectrum of local ICT industry and
applaud their achievements,” congratulated Lee. “Malaysia’s ICT industry and
economy continues to grow and succeed, powered by stellar efforts and hard
work of distinct individuals like these recipients.”

The recipients of 5th PIKOM Key Industry Leader Recognition Award are (in

3. Hoi Meng Tai, group general manager, Xylog Computer Systems Sdn Bhd
4. Khairun Zainal Mokhtar, chief executive officer, Tricubes Bhd
5. Dato’ Lim Loong Heng, chief executive officer, Disccomp Bhd
6. Tan Chee Seng, managing director, MTCS Group Sdn Bhd
7. Tee Kee Ming, managing director, Atos Origin Services (M) Sdn Bhd
8. Frank Teh, managing director, SIS Distribution (M) Sdn Bhd
9. Wong Chin Tee, managing director, Powercomp Automation Sdn Bhd

Each recipient was personally congratulated by Science, Technology and
Innovation Deputy Minister Dato’ Kong Chong Ha, who also presented crystal
glass plaques and industry leadership achievement certificates.

In his keynote address, Dato’ Kong reminded the recipients of the nation’s
expectation and need for high calibre leaders particularly in the ICT industry.
He said as recipients of the prestigious recognition award, they are charged
with the commitment to lead and influence the growth of Malaysia’s growing
ICT industry as its shifts gear through to the next inflection point focused on
improving the quality of life.

This shift, he said, will unleash ICT industry’s inventive energy. “We will see
answers in the form of new ICT products, applications, solutions and services,
and I can already imagine some of these remarkable inventions coming from
you.”

The 9 recipients join an illustrious alumnus comprising 62 industry leaders
who have been inducted and permanently etched in PIKOM’s Hall of Key
Industry Leaders. Previous recipients include Canon Marketing (M) Sdn Bhd’s
president and chief executive officer Liew Sip Chon, Computer Systems
Advisers (M) Bhd managing director Chuah Tai Eu, HeiTech Padu Bhd executive
chairman Dato’ Mohd Hilmey Mohd Taib, IBM Malaysia managing director Ou
Shian Waei, JobStreet.com Bhd chief executive officer Mark Chang, Microsoft
(M) Sdn Bhd managing director Yasmin Mahmood, Patimas Computers Bhd
deputy chairman Dato’ Yap Wee Hin and Telekom Malaysia Bhd chief executive
officer Datuk Abdul Wahid Omar.
